Part One: Seattle

Bec and I have been planning a little girls trip away for a while and it finally happened! Six days with no one to worry about except ourselves. It was one of my favourite holidays so far. First stop...

Seattle

Duck Tours

This is a sight seeing bus that drives into the water and turns into a boat! The Duck Tour wasn't originally on our list of 'things to do' but ended up being one of my favourite activities! The tour guide showed and told us a lot about Seattle and its history.

Chihuly Garden and Glass

Seattle has a great city pass that gets you into a lot of tourist attractions for a discounted price. One of those attractions is the glass gardens. They have a short film running that shows you how the glass is blown and turned into the amazing works of art that you see in the gardens.

The First Starbucks

Fun fact - did you know that the first ever Starbucks was actually closed down because the building it was in wasn't safe? They moved all the furniture from inside the original one into the one that is now in Pike Market and were given the rights to call it the 'first Starbucks' even though its actually the 4th.

Gum Wall

This was gross.. I added a piece of gum to it though.

Savor Seattle Food Tour

I'm pretty sure this was Becs favourite part of the whole holiday. She loves food and this tour was full of some amazing food! We had donuts, salmon, cheese, chowder, caramel lollies, sandwiches and much more. Our tour guide was so nice and did a great job telling us about the history of the markets. She told us that the Pike Place Markets are the longest continuously running markets in the whole of the USA.
One thing that the markets are famous for is the fish throwing. Almost every time we told someone that we were going to Seattle they said "You must go to Pike Markets and watch the fish throwing". Well, I did one better. I CAUGHT A FISH! I was so incredibly nervous that I was going to drop it in front of around 40 people watching me but, as you can see in the video, I did catch it.

Seattle Aquarium

Another stop on our city pass. It was a pretty average Aquarium really. Bec loved the otters though. They were pretty cute when they scratch their tummies to clean themselves. This was the place that we bought a selfie-stick. Our lives changed forever in that moment.

Seattle Great Wheel

This wasn't on our city pass but was relatively inexpensive. The view from the top was amazing and we got to see a big ferry boat come in to doc.

Space Needle

We booked to go up the Space Needle for around 8pm. The view from the top was breathtaking. You can see so much that its impossible to take it all in. We were up there to watch the sun setting which was beautiful.
The next morning we drove up to our next destination... Ill write all about that in my next post.
